Do you celebrate or mark Valentine’s Day?

It has never really been a big deal in our house. Even before my husband and I had kids, Valentine’s Day wasn’t a huge deal. Part of that is probably because of the jobs we both had – he owned his own business and I worked the evening shift at a Toronto newsroom! We were always working on Valentine’s Day.

Now we have kids, who are a little bit older now mind you, we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day in that lovey-dovey way. We like to spend the day together.

Want a few ways you can celebrate Valentine’s Day together as a family?

Here are three tips to help you celebrate the day of love as a family-friendly Valentine’s Day.

1. Sweet Treats

There is nothing better than a little sweet treat to show your loved ones how much they mean to you. It is a little show of appreciation and gratitude.

2. Time Is Priceless

Spending time with the people you love is a priceless gift. We often remember the times we spent with people rather than the stuff we get. Rather than worrying about what to get your loved ones for Valentine’s Day find a way to spend some time together. Go for lunch or dinner together. Go for a long walk together. Maybe go see a movie with the kids.

3. Cook Together

Cooking allows you to spend quality time together and have a tasty treat at the end of all your efforts. You could make it a family affair!
