1me and my sister

My connection with The Hospital For Sick Children is a personal one. I got to know the inside of that hospital very well as a child.

It was an October evening. An evening I will remember forever. It was the evening that changed the lives of everyone in our entire family and every single person who knew us. It was also the night my family first became part of the Sick Kids family.

When I was 8 years old my 5-year-old sister was hit by a car. She was sweet. She was little. And she was forever changed that night.

The Doctors and Nurses at Toronto’s Hospital For Sick Children saved my sister’s life. She spent many, many months at the hospital. It became like our second home. The staff there got to know us well. We even spent Christmas day at the hospital. We were only kids then and couldn’t really spend time in my sister’s hospital room so we hung out in the lobby. The receptionist there got to know us well, so well that she actually bought us Christmas gifts!

Without the compassion of the staff and the tireless work of the medical team at Sick Kids, I am not sure what would have happened. The hospital, Doctors, Nurses and hospital staff hold a special place for me. They all played a major role in my life and the lives of my entire family.

The teams at Sick Kids do special work. They save lives. They mend hearts, minds, and families. But they can’t do it alone. They need our help. They need your help. Giving the kind of care they gave my sister and continue to give so many other boys and girls takes money. That money helps them stay at the cutting edge of medicine.

You Can Help

That is why fundraising efforts like the Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure Walk are essential. It has a goal of $2 million. Reaching it will help to transform children’s health and their treatment, with all proceeds going to The Possibilities Fund at SickKidsFoundation. I know WE can do it together!
